Writing is my passion

I’ve been fascinated by history, organizational leadership, politics, military affairs, travel, and rocks. Yes, rocks.

After retiring from my second career, in academia, my wife and I sold our house and moved into a motor home. We lived in the motor home for four years – traveling extensively throughout the western United States.

During our travels, we found a few places we really liked. These included the Rocky Mountains, the Oregon Coast, and the red rock areas in Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico.

During our visits to the red rock country, I became fascinated with the pictographs and petroglyphs of the Native American people of the Southwest.
Many of these are several thousand years old and we don’t know what they were trying to say. I find this a fascinating mystery.
During my Army experience, I lived in Germany for eight years and traveled extensively in Europe. My familiarity with Germany is one of the reasons that much of the Galilean Codex was set in Bavaria.

After my wife and I decided to end our motor home adventure, we settled for a time in Clarkdale, Arizona. This beautiful little town is located just below Jerome, which was once called “The Wickedest Town in the West. It’s also about twenty minutes from Sedona, which could be called the hiking capital of the United States.

It was while we lived in Clarkdale that I became enamored with rocks. Arizona is one of the best rock hounding places in the United States. Clarkdale was also the oldest company town in Arizona and served as the site of the smelter for the larger of the two major mining companies in Jerome. It is also the site of Tuzigoot National Monument, an old Native American Pueblo site.

After living in Clarkdale for a few years, it was time to come back to Northern California to be near family. We currently live in Chico.
